Musical Direction & Conducting

As a conductor, I aim to help ensembles reach their full potential, not just technically, but musically also. I strive to achieve a friendly, enjoyable approach without intimidation. On the other hand, detail is important to me; I like to work hard in rehearsals, and I strive for excellence in performance. My baton technique has developed through both experience and studying conducting, enabling me to best help ensembles play together and in time, whilst shaping the music with my hands and moulding the sound of the ensemble. In the light of my current theoretical and compositional knowledge, as well as experience in performance and extensive knowledge of brass band and Western art music repertoire, I consider myself a well-rounded musician, and this gives me the skills to be able to listen critically and interpret scores to a high level. In addition, whilst Studying for a master's degree at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, I demonstrated my musical analysis skills through my research into HK Gruber's harmonic language.

Please get in touch via the contact page should your ensemble be interested in working with me. I'm available for one off rehearsals and performances, short projects, and long term roles. I currently live in the West Midlands, but I'm happy to travel.
